PGA TOUR 2K21 Reviews & Ratings
For golf lovers, it is great. Especially cool for an evening game with club lovers like you. The graphics are excellent, the gameplay is decent.

Pros- The game does look good- even on the Switch. It’s not top-notch 4k, but the graphics are pretty good. There are a lot of good courses to choose from. The career mode is pretty good. It presents a pretty wide variety of tournaments and courses. There are rivalries & sponsor contracts to pursue. There’s also pretty good player customization. You can create just about any type of player & clothing, etc. You can also create your own courses. This is a bit challenging on the Switch- and I don’t know if it’s better on other machines. Cons- The number 1 con for me is that you have to have an internet connection to play. I recently tried playing on an airplane and it would not let me play the game. This is very limiting and annoying. The number 2 con is that when you hit it in the fairway rough they only allow you to use a 5 iron in terms of hitting for distance. This is not realistic at all for PGA players who could easily hit woods from the rough for much greater distances. The 3rd con is that every once in a while it will randomly cause you to shank it short- and often into the water. I’m hitting exactly like I do all of the time- but it just randomly shanks it on me. Overall though, I like the game and have fun playing it. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than say Mario Golf Super Rush. This is the first golf game I’ve played in probably 10 years and I would recommend it as long as you are aware of some of the cons- especially having to have an internet connection to play.

I got it on special in a PS4 sale. I have read many reviews, but agree most with the reviewer that describes the game as LAZY. It seems every year HB trots out another version of the game at full price, for what is hardly even an upgrade. OnLine Golf Games peaked in 2007 with TW2007 and while graphics have improved marginally, the online experience has gone backwards. 2K21 just rehashes previous versions of The Golf Club. Menus are similar, courses similar, societies, etc, etc etc. it is just LAZY and $$$ grabbing. I am not even going to criticize the ball and swing dynamics, i am happy with that. it is just the lack of anything NEW. Graphics are way behind what is possible for a PS4 and loading times are slow. On line play is very slow and the game should be renamed Quitters Golf, there is no penalty or statistic to hinder players quitting after they score a bad hole.

Knowing or practicing your swingspeed is useless in this game where the percentage bar is mostly random and you watch the animation swingof your golfer on screen with noticeable screen flicker and shaking.
PGA Tour 2K21 is a fluid take on golf with incredibly tight mechanics that would be perfect for newcomers were it not for 2K's aggressive microtransactions. All sense of progression is held back by an in-game shop that demands hours of grinding on the player's part or real-life money. What is worse is that this practice makes it difficult to enjoy everything the title has to offer. Player customisation moves too slow and career mode simply offers too few rewards to feel rewarding. There is a good game in PGA Tour 2K21 somewhere, but it will never be found so long as microtransactions hold back actual game design.

I am just a regular player who likes that he can spin the ball etc. but don't get more into the details. For me it is a very nice looking and feeling game. In the core it should be about golf and it is giving me that. I play always 4 rounds and one is without wind, one is with a lot of wind and the other 2 are random or in the middle. I mostly play it when I watch a television program or netflix on my left screen, it is still running very good. It is also a game that adepts to your speed. I mostly ffw the movement of my ball, and I also use the prediction of the putt. Can still be difficult ;).So you can also adjust the game to your needs of difficulty. I think in a few months I will try a higher difficulty and I will be challenged more. Now I am winning almost always, but it is still satisfying for me. For me it is not about the winning but to get below par and maybe an eagle. So I have and will have a lot of fun with this game, worth the money :).
PGA Tour 2K21 is the best golf sim on Switch. There’s obvious room for improvement, but at its core it’s a fine game of golf.

The Analogue stickPicked up on sale after seeing patches had been released.I love interesting game play mechanics and this game nails it! The Analogue stick being used to hit the ball is brilliant and is complemented by a lot of depth in game play. For a sim golf, this is the first one I've gotten since the Wii, and easily the best. I typically head more towards Mario Golf, Golf Story, Wii Sports Golf, and True Swing Golf, but this has me engaged. The lowest difficulty doesn't require a college degree to play, and there are increasing difficulties that make it have depth as your skill increases.Notably - even w/patches I have had black textures at times, the game is NOT bug free. If you have other platforms to play it on, you'll probably be glad to get it elsewhere, unless you want to play it on the go (then Switch is the CLEAR answer). If you like playing golf video games PGA Tour is essential. I'm super happy I got it.

There is basically no player development through skills or equipment. The loss of the crowd during tournaments is disappointing. I feel like I just got ripped off, paid full price for a mediocre beta version of a game. Justin Thomas and the PGA should be embarrassed to be associated with this disaster. This is my first 2K product and will be my last. I gave it a 2 because it is fun when everything works well, but the problems are just too frequent.
PGA Tour 2K21 has improved on many aspects, especially around the gameplay experience, and the way it allows for a more precise monitoring of the hit's power, but the visual are still appalling, and the licensed content is pretty limited.
PGA Tour 2K21 scratches the itch for the hardcore golf fans out there, but casual players are going to find a game that is lacking deeper options even though the game itself is beautiful. It's a good entry that hopefully is built upon in the future.

Fun but flawed. Brilliant but bugged. Delightful yet disappointing. The list of opposing adjectives that can be used to describe PGA 2K21 is a long one. In short, it’s well worth a purchase if you can overlook the current performance issues.

This game takes all the best elements from the best modern golf games and marries them into one solid package. Golf and swing mechanics are as easy or hard as you want to make them. The harder you make them, the more XP you get . . . . . which seems fair. I absolutely love the beauty of the ambient motion and graphics (using Ultra), combined with the timing and variety of pre and post swing "cut" scenes (that last just a second or two) but emulate what you see on golf TV broadcasts. This adds a great deal of realism to the experience especially if you use the extensive character face editor to closely replicate yourself. Still exploring all the variety and enjoying every hole I play. Finally after so many years, a PC golf game worth playing!

Career mode is is really fun but there is some work to do. For a 2k game it seems like the career mode could definitely be deeper. Gameplay is very fun and realistic and the graphics are very good. Looking forward to hopefully seeing more of these games just hoping they continue to add on to career mode
A very good start PGA Tour's second life. Despite some minor issues, the game hits the hot spot between simulation and accessibility.
Save your money and buy it when it goes on sale. It improves upon TGC 2019 but finds other ways to negate those improvements. Let me break itSave your money and buy it when it goes on sale. It improves upon TGC 2019 but finds other ways to negate those improvements. Let me break it down:Pros: Societies and golf course creation are still a thing. This is probably the best part of the game. The number of user created courses is immense and there are plenty of competitive societies to play in. There are a load of options for customizing your character. The ball physics is much improved upon the previous version of HB Studios games. The bounce and spin of the ball is much more realistic.Cons:They made the swing punish you twice. Since in the inclusion of a power meter (something lacking in previous versions of TGC) your swing will now punish you twice. Should you not hit the power meter target correctly your ball will either fly past the hole or be severely under hit. If I miss the power target by 1-2% there is no reason for my ball to fly 40 yards further or shorter. The down swing timing is now much harder to figure out than in previous versions. What makes it worse is that calibrating your swing seems to have no effect when the difficulty for the swing setting is changed which makes being competitive in multiple societies who's setting are all custom to that specific group. These simple changes ruined putting. If I hit the ball in previous versions a little too hard the ball rolls to the equivalent of how hard a hit it based on the power of the strike. In this game the ball is blasted past the hole or rather left well short if the target it missed. Putting is no longer based on feel and now based on aligning both the grid and your distance marker. The skill gap between each swing setting is massive. While the game does a good job of showing you where each ball will land and the flight of the ball based on your difficulty setting it does a poor job of scaling difficulty between settings. If I play on the Pro-Am swing setting I can easily shoot -10 or more. Move that up to Pro and I'm now closer to even par. Anything beyond that (there are two other settings, Master and Legend) is near impossible at this point. While leaving my swing setting at Pro-Am would be ideal I want to play in societies against other people and with societies determining their own difficulty, it makes it a massive headache to bounce from one to the other. The addition of clubs with different stats was initially a nice move. Other games have had this feature and it was a welcomed idea. However, the clubs you start out with essentially are the best balanced ones in the game. There is no benefit to take a different set other than aesthetics if you want to play your best making this inclusion worthless. You still can't turn off the announcers. While their lines are much better, I would still like to play a round with out their chiming in on every single shot, especially when the game gets it wrong like announcing I'm headed for the rough but hit the fairway. The graphics are dated but that's the least of my concerns with this game. Career mode requires an internet connection which is absolutely asinine. If you don't have a good internet connection, sorry, you aren't playing anything. There are plenty of assets that have been recycled from TGC 2019 which is how they were probably able to pump out a game for 2K in such a short time. You want to play as a pro? Nope. You can't. Only your customizable character.Overall there were a lot of good ideas that went into this game initially that made an improvement upon previous TGC games by HB studios but to many options in skill settings along with inconsistent leveling of skill between setting makes this a waste of time. If you want to play on your own in career mode (provided you have internet) or casually with friends, throw the game on the easiest setting and have at it. If you want to play in online events and at higher difficulties, well, get ready to be frustrated by a publisher who decided to slap the PGA name on a game they gave to a small studio who went in over their heads even though the recycled most of their assets from previous TGC games. The only reason this game seems to be getting decent reviews is that we've been starved of a good golf game for a long time. However, don't mistake this for a good game. It's not even OK. If it weren't for the fact that you can play with others and this game has the best course builder there is it would have warranted a 0/10. However, those few features alone aren't worth $60. Save your money and grab it on sale during the holidays. Trust me, it'll be worth the wait.

But along comes PGA 2k21 to make things even again. All in all, it's a solid title: the gameplay is decent, the difficulty customisation makes it very easy to enter the scene or play like a pro, and the pick-up-and-play factor is far and away one of the most accessible in any recent sports game. The cons come in the heart and soul. The career mode is lifeless, with your character playing through the course, seeing their trophy pop up on screen, then on to the next one. Where Tiger Woods PGA (the only comparable option) had heart and soul in its retro modes, customisable celebrations and catchphrases, and an overall depth in its career, this just feels slapped together. You could have had interviews, or sponsorships with real ramifications (good and bad), or even rivalry systems with dialogue. I understand that this is supposed to be the start of a new era, but if you're comparing between the career mode of, say, NBA 2k17, the experience here is lacklustre at best. Add to that the VERY limited customisation options, and the fact that the clothes and gear don't really add anything substantial, and you have a technically brilliant and easy to play game that doesn't really make a dent in terms of wanting to pick it up and go, when there are so many other sports games at the same price that will immerse you in their world.More Adam Scott than Tiger Woods, if you catch my drift.
On the golf course, PGA Tour 2K21 is a fairly fun game. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the game modes. The career is way too simple, and even the online does not offer anything exciting. Graphics and sounds are decent, but could be vastly improved.
If you're looking for a golf game to play, there is only one title you should be bothering with - PGA TOUR 2K21. As a golf simulation there is nothing else on the market to beat it, and much of that is down to the power of The Golf Club.

The trainer at the beginning is very informative, but you better take notes because it’s like going to school again. A million things they go through, but at the end you’ll Never remember the first few lessons. They have made the swing setup so difficult you need the best controller on the market. You’ll need to learn how to putt all over again from any other golf game you’ve played. it seems to take endless time trying to setup a shot. Waiting for the next screen to come up and I have to watch what’s going on with the 17th hole. I would have loved to just have a loading screen and not waste my time with that nonsense. Just another thing to make me dislike the game even more. Overall: it’s a very hard game to play. After 1/2 hr it never got easier. I would love a refund but that will never happen. Its a VERY frustrating game to play, It’s just not an enjoyable game to play. Rating a 0(zero) I wish I could give a -10

Annual releases also struggle with not really offering more than cosmetic changes and enhanced rosters. This is not to say that I have not enjoyed some over the years; I just do not find myself getting excited over the annual release of a new Madden, FIFA, or NBA game. When the opportunity to review PGA Tour 2K21 arose I eagerly installed the game and made my way through the tutorial.Despite having a very detailed character creator; I went with a fairly basic character so I could hit the links fast. I do not Golf much but have enjoyed going to the Driving Range and have even played a 9-Hole Par 3 and a few holes over the years as well as taken time on the Putting Green. Oddly enough I am not a regular viewer on television but I do make sure to note who has won the recent events. After making my way through the qualifying round I entered the tournament and found that I struggle mightily with my putting. This is made more complicated by not always being able to see the breaks of a hole as hitting a ball wide left expecting a downward break will at times instead see the ball pull the other direction.Fortunately for me I was able to Happy Gilmore my way around the course. Strong shots of the Tee combined with well-placed chips allowed me to one and two putt my way to Birdies and Pars and win. I was able to win four of five until I faced a course with some crazy wind that cut back on my long game advantage.Despite this I was able to qualify for the PGA tour and won my first three events. That is when the game went into overdrive as the courses became harder and harder and I found numerous putts coming up just short or going over the cup.Thankfully being able to upgrade sponsors, gear, and apparel based on your tour earnings allows players to change the game experience as they go.The courses are well-detailed and the announcers are fun despite some annoying banter. I did not like the check ins on other golfers as in the midst of trying to win I wanted to hit the space bar and move to my next shot versus watching what a A.I. Pro did on another hole.I have not been brave enough to try any online play yet but the game offers so many official holes and players as well as variable difficulty levels which makes it not only compelling but highly repayable.I would tell myself I was only going to play one round only to find myself finishing up my third event on the Fed Ex Cup tour.If you are a fan of Golf or just want to hit the links for casual play, PGA Tour 2K21 is one of the best sports game experiences I have played and lots of fun.
PGA Tour 2K21 is a solid golf simulation with good customization features and good multiplayer, but graphics are just fine and golfers aren't too differentiated.
PGA Tour 2K21 is the perfect option for those who want to enjoy real golf on Nintendo Switch. Its MyPLAYER mode and its control adapted to all types of players will make you spend hours playing this sport. However, its technical section doesn't stand out on Nintendo Switch.
PGA Tour 2K21 plays a solid golf game with enough flexibility in its control settings to appeal to both die-hard simulation buffs and casual golf fans just looking for a quick round. Its real-life pro players are so underused they may as well not be in here and the game may not yet have the typical 2K Sports trademarks – the polished story mode, the slick TV-style presentation – but it also isn't plagued with microtransactions, and the result is a game that, refreshingly, just gets on with it.

What is wrong with you? The switch is a portable system that you take on the train, a plane, a car ride, or play in a waiting room. Why in the world does it need to be online to play a single player PGA Tour? DO NOT buy this game unless they release a patch for offline play. Now, you can play offline in a local round but that progress doesn't count for anything. Again, DO NOT buy this unless they make the tour playable offline. Waste of money.
As someone unlikely to play most of these courses in real-life, I relish the chance to visit them in video-game form. From driving off the tee, reading the green, and everything in between, this title offers a lot in spite of itself. If you’re someone who enjoys golf sims, please don’t let some careless glitches prevent you from checking out PGA Tour 2K21 on the Nintendo Switch. With practice, even a real-life duffer like myself can rack up his share of eagles.
Even if you’re not a fan of the sport, PGA Tour 2K21 is still just a really fun video game. It’s easy enough to pick up and play, and yet there’s a lot to learn for those that want to take things more seriously. The online Societies mode could prove a great reason to keep coming back, and the custom editor is there for those that love to tinker and craft their own courses. The visual presentation is a bit of a letdown, but to be fair it’s also not a deal breaker by any means.

Despite smaller flaws such as an unrewarding progress system, PGA Tour 2K21 manages to appeal to beginners as well as experts alike. The gameplay is thoroughly explained, feels good and is motivating through a surprising amount of depth. The older graphics and long loading times are only minor inconveniences.
In between some of the most frustrating moments I’ve had with any sort of game in quite some time, PGA Tour 2K21 flashed with hopeful, brilliant optimism. As long as it worked, hitting the links and knocking down a few holes felt as good as it ever has. And the course creator is one of the best things I’ve seen come to a sports game in a long time. But it’s hard to recommend something that chewed up and spit out nearly a day of my life, leaving me with nothing to show for it. Either way, it’s without question that the newly invigorated, and now former, Golf Club series is sitting at the base of a mountain made from potential. Though, it may be a hell of a climb getting to the peak.

I never played the golf club, but this game so far has been a great hit and a ton of fun. The golf is challenging, with tons and tons of sliders to change your difficulty as well as AI to find a great sweet spot to win but always have a challenge for your skill level. The course list may be small, but overall doesn't bother me with people creating their own courses. Some of the biggest courses in the world are practically available. Career mode has depth, I wish it had rights to the majors and more pros but understand why it doesn't. Hopefully that's to come. The society is a ton of fun, online works well. I wish it had something like a country club like other 2k online games have tons of availability to do mini games. My small dislike is the sounds of the clubs, but over time I don't mind it. Overall a very good game, I'm very happy with it. I can see logging numerous days on this like the past decade with Tiger Woods. Hopefully this is just the beginning.

It's not tiger woods arcade style play. McIlroy golf game was not good. The golf club games were not great. This mixes the 2 and is a great game. Its tiger woods mixed with golf club games. Looks like tiger woods games but has the realism of the golf club games. You cant control spin mid shot. You need to plan your shots before swinging the club. Which to me actually makes it better. Its half real and half arcade. Well done and the creations course is really well.done. If you're looking for the total arcade style playing (spin mid air, have a ball that makes your play better etc you may be dissapointed) but if you're looking for a solid real golf game, this is it. Well done 2k. You guys made a mess of nba and wwe games...you made up for that hereLots of clothes and clubs...I would give this game a 10 if they added celebrations like the woods games had

Huge selection of official and user created courses on day one and the commentary / presentation are top notch. GFX are a big downgrade though with some sharp jaggies and blurry tree textures, plus slowdown during cinematics and flyby cameras (but thankfully NOT during the actual game play). After about 5 hours play, I've not experienced the crashes or assets not loading that others have seen - perhaps the day one patch helped? The biggest drawback really is the always online requirement for career play - if you plan to play hand held and don't have access to wifi / a phone hot spot link, that could be a deal breaker. I tend to play in places with wifi access so doesn't affect me but I would drop a couple of points if that weren't the case.Overall great to play, but not a looker and the online requirement could be a big issue for some.
PGA Tour 2K21 is all you could want in a golf game, the relaxing yet sometimes maddening game of golf is recreated here perfectly in digital form. This year's game with the 2K flair and added authenticity of real players and even more real courses propels the game further. If you're at all into golf, you'll be into this, and if like golf just a little bit you can now get into HB Studios's golfing mastery.
PGA Tour 2K21 is almost a hole in one on the PlayStation 4 and is definitely one of the best golfing games in years! Kudos to the developers and 2K for creating something fun, addictive and quite memorable!
As golf games go, PGA Tour 2K21 matches any other that I have played recently. And although Wii Sports Golf will still get a run with the younger members of my family, the ease of which rookies can get into PGA Tour 2K21 makes it a game for everyone. Whether you want to play on Beginner and have all the visual aids, or you want to play on Legend where you’ll have to do everything for yourself, PGA Tour 2K21 provides you with that option. With some lovely courses, simple controls, a range of game styles and a slick TV broadcast style presentation, PGA Tour 2K21 will enable golfers the chance to keep hitting the links, even when they’re stuck at home in lockdown or due to bad weather.
While it doesn’t have every official golfer, course and tournament, PGA Tour 2K21 a great start to the series that should no doubt keep your interest until the next iteration. The Golf Club series was a decent golf game in its own rights, but HB Studios and 2K’s new partnership seems to be off to a great start, laying solid groundwork for the series and creating an addictive and entertaining golf experience that anyone of any skill level can enjoy. It’s time to hit the links once again and win that FedEx Cup. Fore!
PGA Tour 2K21 delivers an excellent simulation of my favourite physical pastime, and I expect I’ll continue to come back to it whenever I’m blocked from the real thing by weather, winter, or a pandemic. However, I’m also anxious for this new series to blossom into a more polished and full-featured golf experience. And, given HB Studios’ provenance, I can’t help but hope one day to see a Canadian course or two (perhaps Inverness’ famed Cabot Cliffs?) make the official course roster.
PGA Tour 2K21 offers a good simulation experience that, despite some noticeable absence in both roster and tournaments, would definitely delight golf fans.
PGA TOUR 2K21 is definitely not perfect yet, but it is absolutely vivacious. The physics are one of 2K21's strong points and although it's lacking a story mode, PGA Tour 2K21 successfully keeps triggering players to continue playing. And when the game releases later this week, I hope you will all join my Society: Wonderspons International.
PGA Tour 2K21 is the most flexible and enjoyable golf game since EA’s Tiger Woods series was at its peak. While its career mode could have done with some spit and polish to its presentation and featured more meaningful rewards, it nonetheless serves as a solid 20-hour straightaway to what could prove to be the most thriving part of PGA Tour 2K21’s dance floor in the long term; the online societies. As far as establishing a new sports franchise goes (on the shoulders of the three Golf Club games that came before) this might not be the strongest shot off the tee, but it’s ended up in a very playable lie.
Great fun, a solid golf game that should provide hours of enjoyment to those wanting to climb the Tour ladder or merely get out for a hit.
Despite a few notable missing features and courses, PGA 2K21 is as good as virtual golf gets at this very moment. Drive for show, putt for dough in this cracking sports title.
