Between Me and the Night Reviews & Ratings
Sure, the game isn’t perfect and has a few flaws – the ending is disappointing and the minigames feel quite pointless – but they are forgiveable simply because the game is fun, with a storyline and gameplay that are thoroughly enjoyable.
Between Me And The Night is a game that challenges some tough subjects, mental health is not something that many developers delve into. It's a shame that clumsy and vague puzzle design hold the game back. It's worth a few hours of your time if you don't mind relying on guides to help your progression.
Atmospheric traumas might read as much like the privilege of a certain upbringing as the Matisse print hanging up in the protagonist’s childhood home. That said, Between Me And The Night never feels less than sincere and heartfelt while doing this. And if you can embrace its perspective, the game stands to offer a moving and smart depiction of navigating life through the scrim of an angst born in childhood.
Thanks to the surrealistic atmosphere and visual style this game is very charming. The story the game is trying to tell is not really clear, which makes the game unnecessarily difficult. The puzzles are simply not logical and the hints are simply evil.
The platforming-adventure hybrid Between Me and the Night benefits from an impressive audio-visual presentation, but falls flat when it comes to narrative and puzzle integration.
